Data Protection Officer (DPO). VoltStation does not currently meet the thresholds set out in GDPR Article 37 that would require the appointment of a Data Protection Officer. No DPO has been appointed. For all privacy-related enquiries, please contact us at support@voltstation.app.
2. What personal data do we process?
Depending on your use of the Platform, we process the following categories of personal data:
Account and contact details: phone number, email address, (optional) name, and account ID.
Rental Order and usage data: start and end time of the Rental Order, station ID/location, power bank ID, usage duration, pricing details and order status.
Payment and transaction data: payment method token or last four digits (where available), transaction IDs, amounts, status, refunds and chargebacks. We do not store full card numbers or CVV codes.
Location data: only when you allow this in your device settings. We use location to show nearby stations and, where necessary, to investigate misuse or fraud.
Technical data: IP address, device and app information, log files, crash logs and security logs.
Support communications: messages submitted to support (including via any in-app support form, where available), complaint details, and related information you provide such as photographs.
Referral Programme data (where applicable): referral codes, the account ID of the person you referred or who referred you, and the status of the qualifying Rental Order. VoltStation does not send marketing communications to referred friends. The referral code or link is shared by the referring user themselves.
3. Purposes and legal bases
We process personal data for the following purposes, each on the legal basis indicated (GDPR Article 6):
Performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR): creating and managing your Account; performing Rental Orders; processing payments and pre-authorisations; providing customer support; operating the Referral Programme (issuing and managing reward coupons).
Legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR): retaining invoice and transaction data in accordance with statutory tax retention obligations.
Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR): security of the Platform and fraud and abuse prevention; internal operational reporting (including station performance analysis, rental statistics, and financial reporting); service optimisation; and general business administration. We have balanced these interests against your privacy interests: the data used is limited to what is necessary, and users would reasonably expect a digital rental service to take basic security and quality measures. You have the right to object to processing on this basis (see Article 8).
Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR): for optional features such as precise location (where required by your device settings) or marketing communications, if and to the extent we offer these. You can withdraw consent at any time via your device settings or by contacting us.
Mandatory and optional data. To create an Account, you need one login identifier, depending on the method you choose: a phone number, an email address, a sign-in via Apple, or a sign-in via Google. To complete a Rental Order, VoltStation additionally requires your name, an email address, and a supported payment method. Without this information, VoltStation cannot create your Account, process payment, or conclude and perform the rental contract. Other data (such as location) is optional and only collected if you choose to enable it.
Automated decision-making. VoltStation does not use automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Article 22 GDPR. No decisions that produce legal effects or similarly significantly affect you are made solely by automated means.
4. With whom do we share data?
We only share personal data where necessary for the service or where we are legally obliged to do so:
Payment service providers and banks: for processing payments, pre-authorisations and refunds. VoltStation uses Stripe as its payment service provider. Stripe may process payment data outside the EEA (United States). Stripe applies Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a safeguard for such transfers. See stripe.com/privacy.
IT service providers: cloud hosting, platform software, analytics, and logging services that support the operation of the Platform. In particular:
Vercel Inc. (United States) — hosts the voltstation.app website and processes IP addresses and request headers for every page view as part of its standard CDN/edge operation.
Google LLC (United States) — provides (a) Google Fonts, which loads web font files on every page view and sees the visitor's IP and User-Agent, and (b) Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js), loaded only after you grant analytics consent via the cookie banner. When loaded, Google Analytics receives IP address, User-Agent, page URL, and interaction events. IP anonymisation is enabled.
Google Workspace (Gmail SMTP) (United States / Ireland) — used as the outbound mail transport for contact-form submissions from this website. Your name, email address, business name, and any free-text message you include are routed through Gmail SMTP when you submit the form.
Upstash Inc. (United States, data stored in Frankfurt, Germany) — provides a Redis key-value store used exclusively to rate-limit the contact form (preventing submit-floods and abuse). When you submit the form, a one-way SHA-256 hash of your IP address and of your email address is stored, along with a short-lived counter (10 minutes for IP, 24 hours for email). Raw IP addresses and raw email addresses are not stored in this system.
Partner Locations: only for operational purposes (e.g. reporting a defective station), using the minimum data necessary.
Public authorities: where we are legally obliged to disclose data (e.g. in response to a court order or regulatory request).
We enter into data processing agreements (DPAs) with all processors, setting out security, confidentiality obligations, and processing restrictions.
5. Data location and transfers outside the EEA
Server location. The core Platform (rental service, account data) is hosted on servers located in Frankfurt, Germany, within the European Economic Area (EEA). The marketing website at voltstation.app is served from Vercel's global edge network, which routes requests through points of presence that may include the United States. Contents of the website itself are public; IP addresses and request metadata are processed by Vercel as part of standard CDN operation.
Google services (Fonts, Analytics, Gmail SMTP). As listed in Article 4 above, the website loads resources from Google LLC (United States). This constitutes a transfer of personal data (IP address and User-Agent at minimum) to the United States within the meaning of GDPR Article 44. Google addresses this through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in accordance with GDPR Article 46 and through its certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Google Analytics is only loaded after you grant explicit consent via the cookie banner.
Developer and technical support access. Our Platform is built on a third-party software platform provided by a supplier based in China. Development and technical support staff of that supplier may, on a limited and exceptional basis, require access to system data — which may include personal data — in order to diagnose and resolve technical issues. This constitutes a transfer of personal data to China within the meaning of GDPR Article 44. We address this through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in accordance with GDPR Article 46, included in our agreement with that supplier.
Payment processing. Payment data is processed by Stripe, whose infrastructure is partly located in the United States. This constitutes a transfer of personal data to the United States within the meaning of GDPR Article 44. Stripe addresses this through Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) in accordance with GDPR Article 46.
Requests and information. If you wish to know more about our data transfer arrangements or request a copy of the applicable safeguards, please contact us at support@voltstation.app.
6. Retention periods
We do not retain personal data longer than necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. The following indicative periods apply:
Transaction and invoice data: retained for 7 years in accordance with Dutch statutory tax retention obligations (Article 52 Algemene wet inzake rijksbelastingen).
Account data: retained for the duration of your active Account and for up to 2 years after Account closure, to handle any outstanding claims, disputes, or regulatory obligations.
Support communications (including in-app support requests): retained for 12 months after resolution of the relevant enquiry, after which they are anonymised or deleted.
Security and access logs: retained for a maximum of 6 months, unless longer retention is necessary to investigate a specific security incident or abuse case.
Referral Programme data (where applicable): retained until the relevant coupon has been used or has expired, plus a reasonable period to handle any disputes.
Location data (where collected): used in real time to show nearby stations; not retained beyond the active session unless required for a fraud or misuse investigation.
7. Security
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These measures include access controls, encryption in transit where appropriate, logging, and security monitoring. No system is 100% secure. If you suspect your Account has been misused, please contact us immediately.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the following rights: access to your personal data; rectification of inaccurate data; erasure ('right to be forgotten'); restriction of processing; objection to processing; data portability; and (where applicable) withdrawal of consent. You can submit a request by emailing support@voltstation.app. We may ask for additional information to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Account deletion. You can delete your Account via the Platform. Upon deletion, your account data is removed and any unused Referral Programme coupons expire immediately. Any outstanding charges will be collected before the Account is closed. Transaction and invoice data will be retained for 7 years in accordance with statutory tax retention obligations (see Article 6 above). Security and access logs are retained in accordance with the periods stated in Article 6.
Supervisory authority. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens), Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag, or via www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
Mobile app. The VoltStation Platform is a mobile app and does not use web-based cookies. The app may use device identifiers and local storage for session management and security purposes only.
Website. The VoltStation website (voltstation.app) may use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:
Essential cookies: required for basic site functionality and security. These do not require your consent.
Analytics cookies: used to understand how visitors interact with the website, such as pages visited and traffic sources. These cookies are only placed after you have given your consent via the cookie banner.
We do not use cookies or similar technologies for advertising or profiling purposes, on either the app or the website. For details on the specific cookies used, their providers and retention periods, please refer to the cookie banner on our website. You can change your preferences at any time via .
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The most current version is available in the Platform. In case of material changes, we will inform you via the Platform and/or by email.
Language. This document is available in Dutch and English. If there is any discrepancy or inconsistency between versions, the Dutch version prevails.
1. Wie is verantwoordelijk?
VoltStation B.V. is verwerkingsverantwoordelijke voor de verwerking van persoonsgegevens zoals beschreven in dit privacybeleid.
Functionaris voor gegevensbescherming (FG). VoltStation voldoet op dit moment niet aan de drempelwaarden van artikel 37 AVG die de aanwijzing van een functionaris voor gegevensbescherming vereisen. Er is geen FG aangesteld. Voor alle privacygerelateerde vragen kunt u contact met ons opnemen via support@voltstation.app.
2. Welke persoonsgegevens verwerken wij?
Afhankelijk van uw gebruik van het Platform verwerken wij de volgende categorieën persoonsgegevens:
Account- en contactgegevens: telefoonnummer, e-mailadres, (optioneel) naam en account-ID.
Huurbestelling- en gebruiksgegevens: begin- en eindtijd van de Huurbestelling, station-ID/locatie, powerbank-ID, gebruiksduur, tariefgegevens en orderstatus.
Betaal- en transactiegegevens: betaalmethodentoken of laatste vier cijfers (indien beschikbaar), transactie-ID's, bedragen, status, terugbetalingen en chargebacks. Wij slaan geen volledige kaartnummers of CVV-codes op.
Locatiegegevens: uitsluitend indien u dit toestaat via uw apparaatinstellingen. Wij gebruiken locatiegegevens om nabijgelegen stations te tonen en, indien noodzakelijk, om misbruik of fraude te onderzoeken.
Technische gegevens: IP-adres, apparaat- en app-informatie, logbestanden, crashlogs en beveiligingslogs.
Ondersteuningscommunicatie: berichten ingediend via de ondersteuning (inclusief via het in-app ondersteuningsformulier, indien beschikbaar), klachtgegevens en aanvullende informatie die u verstrekt, zoals foto's.
Doorverwijsprogrammagegevens (indien van toepassing): doorverwijscodes, het account-ID van de persoon die u heeft doorverwezen of die u heeft doorverwezen, en de status van de kwalificerende Huurbestelling. VoltStation verstuurt geen marketingberichten naar doorverwezen vrienden. De doorverwijscode of -link wordt door de verwijzende gebruiker zelf gedeeld.
3. Doeleinden en rechtsgrondslagen
Wij verwerken persoonsgegevens voor de volgende doeleinden, elk op de aangegeven rechtsgrondslag (artikel 6 AVG):
Uitvoering van een overeenkomst (art. 6 lid 1 sub b AVG): aanmaken en beheren van uw Account; uitvoeren van Huurbestellingen; verwerken van betalingen en pre-autorisaties; verlenen van klantenondersteuning; uitvoering van het Doorverwijsprogramma (verstrekken en beheren van beloningsvouchers).
Wettelijke verplichting (art. 6 lid 1 sub c AVG): bewaren van factuur- en transactiegegevens overeenkomstig de wettelijke (fiscale) bewaarplicht.
Gerechtvaardigd belang (art. 6 lid 1 sub f AVG): beveiliging van het Platform en voorkoming van fraude en misbruik; interne operationele rapportage (waaronder analyse van stationsprestaties, huurstatistieken en financiële rapportage); optimalisatie van de dienstverlening; en algemene bedrijfsvoering. Wij hebben deze belangen afgewogen tegen uw privacybelangen: de verwerkte gegevens zijn beperkt tot het noodzakelijke en het is redelijkerwijs te verwachten dat een digitale verhuurservice basismaatregelen op het gebied van beveiliging en kwaliteit treft. U heeft het recht bezwaar te maken tegen verwerking op deze grondslag (zie artikel 8).
Toestemming (art. 6 lid 1 sub a AVG): voor optionele functies zoals precieze locatie (indien vereist door uw apparaatinstellingen) of marketingcommunicatie, indien en voor zover wij deze aanbieden. U kunt uw toestemming te allen tijde intrekken via uw apparaatinstellingen of door contact met ons op te nemen.
Verplichte en optionele gegevens. Voor het aanmaken van een Account heeft u één inlogmiddel nodig, afhankelijk van de door u gekozen methode: een telefoonnummer, een e-mailadres, aanmelden via Apple of aanmelden via Google. Voor het uitvoeren van een Huurbestelling heeft VoltStation daarnaast uw naam, een e-mailadres en een ondersteunde betaalmethode nodig. Zonder deze gegevens kan VoltStation geen Account aanmaken, betaling verwerken of het huurcontract sluiten en uitvoeren. Overige gegevens (zoals locatie) zijn optioneel en worden uitsluitend verzameld indien u dit zelf inschakelt.
Geautomatiseerde besluitvorming. VoltStation maakt geen gebruik van geautomatiseerde besluitvorming of profilering in de zin van artikel 22 AVG. Er worden geen beslissingen genomen die uitsluitend op geautomatiseerde verwerking zijn gebaseerd en die rechtsgevolgen voor u hebben of u anderszins in aanmerkelijke mate treffen.
4. Met wie delen wij gegevens?
Wij delen persoonsgegevens uitsluitend indien dit noodzakelijk is voor de dienstverlening of indien wij hiertoe wettelijk verplicht zijn:
Betalingsdienstaanbieders en banken: voor het verwerken van betalingen, pre-autorisaties en terugbetalingen. VoltStation maakt gebruik van Stripe als betalingsdienstaanbieder. Stripe kan betaalgegevens verwerken buiten de EER (Verenigde Staten). Stripe hanteert Standaard Contractuele Bepalingen (SCB's) als waarborg voor dergelijke doorgiften. Zie stripe.com/privacy.
IT-dienstverleners: cloudhosting, platformsoftware, analyses en logdiensten die de werking van het Platform ondersteunen. In het bijzonder:
Vercel Inc. (Verenigde Staten) — host voor de website voltstation.app en verwerkt IP-adressen en request-headers voor elke paginaweergave als onderdeel van haar standaard CDN/edge-werking.
Google LLC (Verenigde Staten) — levert (a) Google Fonts, waarmee bij elke paginaweergave weblettertype-bestanden worden geladen en waarbij het IP-adres en de User-Agent van de bezoeker zichtbaar zijn, en (b) Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js), dat pas wordt geladen nadat u via de cookiebanner toestemming heeft gegeven voor analyse. Wanneer geladen, ontvangt Google Analytics IP-adres, User-Agent, paginurl en interactiegebeurtenissen. IP-anonimisering is ingeschakeld.
Google Workspace (Gmail SMTP) (Verenigde Staten / Ierland) — gebruikt als uitgaand e-mailtransport voor inzendingen van het contactformulier op deze website. Uw naam, e-mailadres, bedrijfsnaam en eventuele vrije tekst die u meestuurt, worden bij het verzenden van het formulier via Gmail SMTP verstuurd.
Upstash Inc. (Verenigde Staten, gegevens opgeslagen in Frankfurt, Duitsland) — levert een Redis key-value-opslag die uitsluitend wordt gebruikt om het contactformulier te voorzien van rate-limiting (ter voorkoming van floods en misbruik). Bij een formulierinzending wordt een eenrichtings-SHA-256-hash van uw IP-adres en van uw e-mailadres opgeslagen, samen met een kortlopende teller (10 minuten voor IP, 24 uur voor e-mail). Ruwe IP-adressen en ruwe e-mailadressen worden in dit systeem niet opgeslagen.
Partnerlocaties: uitsluitend voor operationele doeleinden (bijv. het melden van een defect station), met gebruikmaking van de minimaal benodigde gegevens.
Bevoegde autoriteiten: indien wij wettelijk verplicht zijn gegevens te verstrekken (bijv. naar aanleiding van een rechterlijk bevel of verzoek van een toezichthouder).
Wij sluiten verwerkersovereenkomsten (VOK's) met alle verwerkers, waarin beveiligingsvereisten, geheimhoudingsverplichtingen en verwerkingsbeperkingen zijn vastgelegd.
5. Gegevenslocatie en doorgifte buiten de EER
Serverlocatie. Het kern-Platform (verhuurdienst, accountgegevens) wordt gehost op servers in Frankfurt (Duitsland), binnen de Europese Economische Ruimte (EER). De marketingwebsite op voltstation.app wordt uitgeleverd via het wereldwijde edge-netwerk van Vercel, waardoor verzoeken worden gerouteerd via punten die ook in de Verenigde Staten kunnen liggen. De inhoud van de website zelf is openbaar; IP-adressen en request-metadata worden door Vercel verwerkt als onderdeel van de standaard CDN-werking.
Google-diensten (Fonts, Analytics, Gmail SMTP). Zoals vermeld in artikel 4 hierboven, laadt de website bronnen van Google LLC (Verenigde Staten). Dit vormt een doorgifte van persoonsgegevens (minimaal IP-adres en User-Agent) naar de Verenigde Staten in de zin van artikel 44 AVG. Google ondervangt dit via Standaard Contractuele Bepalingen (SCB's) overeenkomstig artikel 46 AVG en via haar certificering onder het EU–VS Data Privacy Framework. Google Analytics wordt pas geladen nadat u via de cookiebanner expliciet toestemming heeft gegeven.
Toegang door ontwikkelaars en technische ondersteuning. Ons Platform is gebouwd op een softwareplatform van een leverancier gevestigd in China. Ontwikkelaars en medewerkers van technische ondersteuning van die leverancier kunnen in beperkte en uitzonderlijke gevallen toegang nodig hebben tot systeemgegevens — waaronder persoonsgegevens — om technische problemen te diagnosticeren en op te lossen. Dit vormt een doorgifte van persoonsgegevens naar China in de zin van artikel 44 AVG. Wij ondervangen dit door Standaard Contractuele Bepalingen (SCB's) overeenkomstig artikel 46 AVG op te nemen in onze overeenkomst met die leverancier.
Betalingsverwerking. Betaalgegevens worden verwerkt door Stripe, waarvan de infrastructuur gedeeltelijk in de Verenigde Staten is gevestigd. Dit vormt een doorgifte van persoonsgegevens naar de Verenigde Staten in de zin van artikel 44 AVG. Stripe ondervangt dit door middel van Standaard Contractuele Bepalingen (SCB's) overeenkomstig artikel 46 AVG.
Informatie en verzoeken. Indien u meer wilt weten over onze doorgifteregelingen of een kopie van de toepasselijke waarborgen wil opvragen, kunt u contact met ons opnemen via support@voltstation.app.
6. Bewaartermijnen
Wij bewaren persoonsgegevens niet langer dan noodzakelijk voor de doeleinden waarvoor zij zijn verzameld. De volgende indicatieve termijnen gelden:
Transactie- en factuurgegevens: bewaard gedurende 7 jaar overeenkomstig de wettelijke fiscale bewaarplicht (artikel 52 Algemene wet inzake rijksbelastingen).
Accountgegevens: bewaard gedurende de looptijd van uw actieve Account en tot 2 jaar na sluiting van uw Account, om eventuele openstaande claims, geschillen of wettelijke verplichtingen af te handelen.
Ondersteuningscommunicatie (inclusief in-app ondersteuningsverzoeken): bewaard gedurende 12 maanden na afhandeling van de betreffende aanvraag, waarna deze worden geanonimiseerd of verwijderd.
Beveiligings- en toegangslogs: maximaal 6 maanden bewaard, tenzij langere bewaring noodzakelijk is voor het onderzoek naar een specifiek beveiligingsincident of misbruikgeval.
Doorverwijsprogrammagegevens (indien van toepassing): bewaard totdat de betreffende voucher is gebruikt of verlopen, plus een redelijke termijn voor de afhandeling van eventuele geschillen.
Locatiegegevens (indien verzameld): gebruikt tijdens de actieve sessie voor het tonen van nabijgelegen stations; niet bewaard na de sessie, tenzij vereist voor een onderzoek naar fraude of misbruik.
7. Beveiliging
Wij treffen passende technische en organisatorische maatregelen ter bescherming van persoonsgegevens tegen ongeoorloofde toegang, verlies of misbruik. Deze maatregelen omvatten toegangscontroles, versleuteling tijdens transport waar van toepassing, logging en beveiligingsmonitoring. Geen enkel systeem is 100% veilig. Vermoedt u misbruik van uw Account, neem dan onmiddellijk contact met ons op.
8. Uw rechten
Op grond van de AVG heeft u de volgende rechten: inzage in uw persoonsgegevens; rectificatie van onjuiste gegevens; gegevenswissing ('recht op vergetelheid'); beperking van de verwerking; bezwaar tegen verwerking; gegevensoverdraagbaarheid; en (indien van toepassing) intrekking van toestemming. U kunt een verzoek indienen door een e-mail te sturen naar support@voltstation.app. Wij kunnen aanvullende informatie vragen om uw identiteit te verifiëren alvorens een verzoek in te willigen.
Accountverwijdering. U kunt uw Account verwijderen via het Platform. Bij verwijdering worden uw accountgegevens gewist en vervallen eventuele ongebruikte Doorverwijsprogramma-vouchers onmiddellijk. Openstaande kosten worden geïncasseerd voordat het Account wordt gesloten. Transactie- en factuurgegevens worden bewaard gedurende 7 jaar overeenkomstig de wettelijke fiscale bewaarplicht (zie artikel 6 hierboven). Beveiligings- en toegangslogs worden bewaard overeenkomstig de in artikel 6 genoemde termijnen.
Toezichthouder. U heeft tevens het recht een klacht in te dienen bij de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, Postbus 93374, 2509 AJ Den Haag, of via www.autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
9. Cookies en vergelijkbare technologieën
Mobiele app. Het VoltStation Platform is een mobiele app en maakt geen gebruik van webgebaseerde cookies. De app kan apparaatidentificatoren en lokale opslag gebruiken uitsluitend voor sessiebeheer en beveiligingsdoeleinden.
Website. De VoltStation-website (voltstation.app) kan cookies en vergelijkbare technologieën gebruiken voor de volgende doeleinden:
Essentiële cookies: noodzakelijk voor de basisfunctionaliteit en beveiliging van de website. Hiervoor is geen toestemming vereist.
Analytische cookies: gebruikt om te begrijpen hoe bezoekers de website gebruiken, zoals bezochte pagina's en verkeersbronnen. Deze cookies worden uitsluitend geplaatst nadat u hiervoor toestemming heeft gegeven via de cookiebanner.

10. Wijzigingen
Wij kunnen dit privacybeleid bijwerken. De meest actuele versie is beschikbaar in het Platform. Bij wezenlijke wijzigingen informeren wij u via het Platform en/of per e-mail.
Taal. Dit document is beschikbaar in het Nederlands en Engels. Bij tegenstrijdigheid of inconsistentie tussen versies prevaleert de Nederlandse versie.
